Designing Tasks through Second Life for CFL Learners in the UK University

The development of technology has brought some alternative means in education. enabling role been widely recognized second language teaching and learning. Second Life (SL) is an online virtual world popular with digital natives. Some educators apply this application to foreign-language university courses because its benefits students’ immersion focus, imagination, creativity Language learners can immerse themselves the target environment imitate real-world tasks, which promotes provision reality-oriented tasks optimizes task-based tenets such as learning by doing, authenticity, negotiation meaning, exposure abundant authentic input. Based on definition SL teaching, previous pedagogic models studies designing SL, study proposed two types for Chinese a learner settings, along rationale behind them. Additionally, challenges were identified. Overall, offered valuable insights guidance speakers other languages UK universities.
